17th Annual Fallston Takedown Tournament - Sunday, December 4th
On Sunday, December 4, 2011 the Fallston Junior Wrestling Program will host
the 17th Annual Fallston Takedown Tournament at Fallston High School.
If you are unfamiliar with our tournament, it is an early season event that
focuses on the art of the takedown. A takedown match is a great introduction
to the sport of wrestling for the novice, and a way for more experienced
wrestlers to focus on a critical aspect of the sport. We try to improve the tournament each year for the convenience and enjoyment of the wrestlers, parents, and coaches. Last year even with 480 wrestlers the tournament ran on schedule. The flyer is in a PDF format with the ability to type the info and either print or e-mail.
Our 2011 format, the same as last year's, is based upon:
* Two Divisions
* Novice Division (1st and 2nd year wrestlers)
* Open Division
* Two age groups in each division
* Novice 8 and under (Session 1)
* Novice 9 and above (Session 2)
* Open Elementary (10 and under) Session 3
* Open Middle School (11 to 14) Session 3
* Madison sorting
* Minimum of two round robin 2-minute matches
* Six takedown slaughter rule (matches will be stopped if any wrestler is
winning his/her match by 6 takedowns)
We expect a fast-paced, challenging, and fun tournament for all wrestlers. We welcome team registrations and payments - the target cut-off for
registrations is 12-1-11. Please note that in order to compete, the parent
or guardian of each wrestler must sign a waiver form. This is a requirement
of our Rec Council. The attached form provides a simple way for you to
secure this from your parents in advance of the tournament. The alternative
is for them to sign the waiver on the day of the tournament.
